Past Supported Charities
Find out more about the past charities that McCartneys have supported and how we helped raise awareness and money for them.

McCartneys LLP are pleased to advise that we will be supporting the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund for 2022. Unfortunately fundraising has been somewhat burdened by the pandemic over the past couple of years but we are keen to reinstate McCartneys dedication to making a difference where we can to charitable causes.
Who Are Lingen Davies
Lingen Davies Cancer Fund exists to enhance and improve the situation for local cancer patients in the Shropshire, Telford, and Mid Wales area. We cannot eradicate cancer, but we can make life easier for those who are going through it, or watching loved ones go through it.
Started in 1979 by Bernard Lingen, then Mayor of Shrewsbury, and local accountant Frank Davies, the charity has contributed around £18million in today’s prices to improve cancer services in the local area. It is estimated that around 75,000 people have had their cancer treatment and care improved through the impact of the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Our LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service helps people recognise the early signs and symptoms of cancer, what they should look out for, how they can help themselves avoid cancer, and where they can turn for support and information.

McCartneys are delighted to announce that our Charity of the Year for 2019 is the Alzheimer’s Society. Working with our local community fundraisers Lisa and Helen we will be raising money and awareness throughout the year to support this vital charity.
Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.
We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health and social care challenge of our time.
McCartneys will be involved in fund raising activities throughout the year and we will keep you posted on events in your area. Of course, raising money is important but also, we will work together with the charity to do our bit to spread awareness of dementia and the fantastic support and guidance which the Alzheimer’s Society provides.

McCartneys are Supporting the British Heart Foundation
McCartneys know how to make your heart beat a little faster, whether it’s securing your dream home, achieving the top estimate on your auction lot or walking the hills with one of our rural professionals. Without heart we are nothing, which is why we’ve chosen to put everyone’s heart at the centre of our fundraising efforts.
We’ll be raising money to purchase defibrillators for all our livestock markets, so that farmers have life-saving equipment onsite should the worst happen and we’ll be making a donation direct to the British Heart Foundation who do so much great work to raise awareness of heart health.
If you visit one of our offices you’ll find a copy of Heart Matters, the British Heart Foundation’s magazine and leaflets giving tips on how to keep your heart in the best condition; whether that’s eating better, getting a little more exercise or avoiding stress. You’ll also be able to make a donation direct through the fundraising tins or by purchasing our British Heart Foundation merchandise.
We are also joining in with the British Heart Foundation campaign Bag it. Beat it. Please ask a member of our team for some bags and you can donate any unwanted household items i.e. clothes, shoes, books, cds, toys etc. to be collected from our offices.
You’re at the heart of everything we do, so let’s get fundraising!
A team of 9 McCartneys staff members have come together to take on the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
This will see them tackle the 3 highest peaks that Scotland, England and Wales has to offer all within the space of 24 hours. Within this short time frame they will cover 23 miles of walking, 3064 metres of ascent and 462 miles of driving.

Last year, dressing as characters from the Wizard of Oz and a mass cycle ride were just two of the ways McCartneys and Phipps & Pritchard raised money for mental health charity, Mind. With your help we have done phenomenally well with over £6800 raised.
Initially the figure was just over £5500 but the partnership decided to round it up to £6000. As a result, each of the four ‘local Mind’ branches where our offices and livestock markets are located, Shropshire Mind, Herefordshire Mind, Mid Powys Mind and Brecon and District Mind will each get £1500 to carry on their vital work.
But the good news doesn’t stop there, as we raised a further £834 through the Just Giving website which goes directly to Mind at a national level.
We couldn’t have done it without your help.
Whether it was donating a lamb or ewe to be sold in aid of the charity at one of our livestock markets or donating your spare change for one of the collection cans in our estate agency branches, the collective effort has been fantastic.
There have been many highlights across the year including the fancy dress day and the quiz night arranged by Phipps and Pritchard which raised a substantial amount. As did the charity bike ride and walk along the Montgomery canal.
Together we will make a real difference to the local Mind Groups with the money being used for outreach projects and community welfare.
So, on behalf of the local Minds, thank you!
It’s important to keep talking about mental health issues and if you or someone you know is facing a mental health challenge then please visit the mind website here for information and advice.
McCartneys are Supporting Macmillan for 2016
Last year we took the decision to start supporting a charity for the year. 2015 saw us raising money for the Air Ambulance with a main event being a sponsored walk up Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons.
This year we have decided to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support, a cause close to many of our hearts here in McCartneys. Our main event this year will be stepping things up a little from last year with a sponsored walk up the highest peak in England and Wales, Snowdon. A team from McCartneys and anyone else who wants to join us will be scaling the mountain on Sunday 26th June 2016 and any support that you can give us would be hugely appreciated. In addition to the main event, McCartneys will also be hosting a 5-a-side football match between the offices to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support. Here they will battle it out to see which office will be crowned the ultimate 5-a-side team.

McCartneys are Supporting County and Wales Air Ambulance for 2015
McCartneys have chosen to show their support for the hard work that the Air Ambulance Services put in on a daily basis saving lives. Due to the remoteness of the countryside the Air Ambulance really comes into its own when seconds can make all the difference therefore it is important that we all help keep the service running by donating, as one day you might find yourself needing to call upon their services. As McCartneys cover such a wide area we have gone with the decission to support both the County and Wales Air Ambulance.
