Consultant

Michael Edwards joined McCartneys as a pupil surveyor in July 1978, employed in the Surveying and Planning Department and progressed within the firm to become a partner in 1991. His professional qualifications include: – Chartered Building Surveyor, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents.
Originally based in the Ludlow office Michael moved to Kington in 1989 to develop the building surveying work in that area and to manage the residential and commercial departments.
Michael was born in the Welsh Borderland and has lived in the area throughout his life. Hobbies include all types of sport and he was actively involved in motocross riding for nearly 10 years when still at school. Now in later life Michael enjoys playing golf (although not very well!) and is a keen football fan, being a season ticket holder at Shrewsbury Town and is actively involved in supporting local sports clubs.

Geraint joined McCartneys LLP in June 2007 and currently undertakes professional work from the Welshpool, Newtown and Kington Offices.
Geraint is a graduate of the John Moores University of Liverpool with a degree in Building Surveying, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Geraint is also fully qualified to undertake Domestic Energy Assessments and level 3 Commercial Energy Assessments.
Geraint began his surveying career working for RW Solutions in Liverpool undertaking a wide range of Building Surveying matters and specialising in dilapidations. In June 2007 Geraint joined McCartneys as part of the Planning and Survey Department in Kington and has since specialised in all things Building Surveying on residential, commercial and agricultural matters. His other specialisms include Planning Matters, Building Regulations, Domestic and Commercial Energy Assessments and Land surveys.
Geraint is a local lad and is a farmer’s son from Tregynon, where he enjoys helping out on the farm.
Surveyor

Lewis joined McCartneys LLP in September 2015 and currently undertakes professional work from the Kington Survey Department of McCartneys.
Lewis is a graduate of the Swansea University with a bachelor’s degree with honours in Mechanical Engineering. Lewis began his career at Silverwing Ltd, a non-destructive testing company, designing and developing testing equipment. In September 2015, Lewis moved back to his home in Mid Wales and joined McCartneys LLP as a trainee Building Surveyor. Since joining the firm, Lewis has qualified as a Domestic Energy Assessor to undertake EPCs. Lewis is involved in a range of surveying work including architectural design & drawing work, Planning Matters, Building Regulations and Land Surveys on residential, commercial and agricultural sectors mainly from the Kington office as well as other McCartneys offices in the south Powys region.
Lewis comes from a family farm near Erwood. He is regularly up the farm helping out in evenings and on weekends and takes a keen interest in the running of the farm. In his spare time, he is an active member of Llandefalle Young Farmers particularly enjoying competing at the drama festival, public speaking and sports day. He has also been a member of Hay-on-Wye Cricket Club since he was 18, mainly playing as a batsman in the team.
Planning Consultant

Matthew joined McCartneys in September 2023 as a Planning Consultant. He graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Building Surveying and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
With over 20 years of experience, he has a wealth of knowledge on all matters relating to core planning work, Architectural Design, Building Regulations, Contract Administration and Project Management in the residential, agricultural and commercial sectors.
Based in the Welshpool office, Matthew covers Mid Wales, Shropshire, Herefordshire and beyond.
