In Wales since 1st August 2016 developments have to carry out consultation before making planning applications which meet the following criteria:
The minimum period of public consultation is 28 days following which a summary of all the issues raised must be provided as part of the planning application submission. The developer must also confirm whether and if so how these issues have been address.

Geraint joined McCartneys LLP in June 2007 and currently undertakes professional work from the Welshpool, Newtown and Kington Offices.
Geraint is a graduate of the John Moores University of Liverpool with a degree in Building Surveying, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Geraint is also fully qualified to undertake Domestic Energy Assessments and level 3 Commercial Energy Assessments.
Geraint began his surveying career working for RW Solutions in Liverpool undertaking a wide range of Building Surveying matters and specialising in dilapidations. In June 2007 Geraint joined McCartneys as part of the Planning and Survey Department in Kington and has since specialised in all things Building Surveying on residential, commercial and agricultural matters. His other specialisms include Planning Matters, Building Regulations, Domestic and Commercial Energy Assessments and Land surveys.
Geraint is a local lad and is a farmer’s son from Tregynon, where he enjoys helping out on the farm.

Matthew joined McCartneys in September 2023 as a Planning Consultant. He graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Building Surveying and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
With over 20 years of experience, he has a wealth of knowledge on all matters relating to core planning work, Architectural Design, Building Regulations, Contract Administration and Project Management in the residential, agricultural and commercial sectors.
Based in the Welshpool office, Matthew covers Mid Wales, Shropshire, Herefordshire and beyond.
