We’re Currently Looking for a Livestock Auctioneer

We are looking for an auctioneer to join our McCartneys livestock team. The successful candidate would assist with all aspects of the markets including procurement of stock, weekly auction sales of prime/store stock and on-farm dispersal sales. Experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

The successful candidate must have the following:

• Positive attitude and hard work ethic
• Confident communication skills
• Ambition to progress
• Agricultural knowledge and experience

Positions available across the whole McCartneys region.

Competitive package and full training will be provided as well as enrolment onto the Livestock Auctioneers Association course at Harper Adams University.

Previous experience with handling cattle is essential however, further livestock handling training will be provided.

Main Areas of work will include:

• Valuation, including for secured landing.
• Sales of land & farm properties.
• Letting of land & farms on tenancy, licence and other agrements.
• Compulsory purchase & compensations.
• Landlord & Tenant matters.
• Rural grant application

What we are looking for:

• Individuals who are RICS qualified (ideally with 5 year plus PQE, but not essential).
• CAAV qualification looked favourably on.
• Self-motivated and well organised persons, who are looking for a versatile range of professional work.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain good client relationships.
• A good understanding of the local property market and rural landscape.
• Ability to manage workloads efficiently, meet deadlines, and deliver a high standard of service.
• Full UK driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service, confidently handling enquiries by telephone, email, and in person
• Register buyers in accordance with company procedures using agency software
• Prepare and manage property documentation for marketing
• Arrange property valuations and viewings
• Support negotiators with sales enquiries and progression
• Obtain and record viewing feedback
• Open and maintain property files, ensuring compliance documentation is complete, including ID and AML verification
• Assist with property marketing and branch promotional displays
• Identify and refer potential leads to industry partners
• Produce invoices accurately and efficiently
• Use internal systems including Reapit, SAGE, and Microsoft Office
• Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the branch

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous estate agency or office administration experience preferred (though not essential)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Positive, proactive, and highly organised
• Professional and well-presented
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle would be advantageous.
