McCartneys LLP is an independent firm of Auctioneers, Estate Agents, Chartered Surveyors and Valuers in the Marches, Mid Wales and West Midlands, with thirteen Property Offices and five Livestock Markets covering five counties.

The original Partnership, established in 1874, has developed into a strong independent professional firm serving its’ clients throughout the West Midlands and Welsh Borders, with pride and expertise. McCartneys is one of the oldest and largest multi-disciplined private practices in the United Kingdom.

We have a strong residential and commercial department with offices throughout the region, a rural professional division with a longstanding heritage in supporting the needs of the countryside economy, livestock markets selling high quality locally produced livestock, an equine department selling a wide range of general purpose and registered equines, survey departments offering advice on all planning and building related matters, a fine art and antiques section offering quality goods and a dispute resolution department specifically set up to meet modern day requirements.

The Rural Business Awards Midlands

Jenny Layton Mills, Rural Chartered Surveyor at the Knighton branch said “Winning the award for the Best Rural Professional Services Business in the West Midlands is a testament to the hard work of our team, who are always prepared to go the extra mile for our clients. Excellence in Leadership & Management Award

McCartneys LLP collected the Excellence in Leadership and Management Award at the annual Powys Business Awards. Tom Carter, partner and chair of the company’s property department, said: “We are overwhelmed and very proud to win this award which was unexpected.”

Regional – Wales Agency of the Year Winner

McCartneys LLP picked up the Gold Winner award for the Wales Agency of the Year Award. The judges said: We were impressed with the quality of the operation and the realisation that you have to move forward. They have presented many examples of technological innovation, combining old school estate agency with modern technology such as drone videos and 3D virtual tours.

Best Real Estate Agency Welshpool

McCartneys LLP have just won The British Property Awards for Best Estate Agent in Welshpool. The judging panel said, “Their team performed outstandingly throughout the extensive judging period, which focused on customer service levels.” McCartneys have now been shortlisted for a number of national awards which will be announced later in the year at our lavish ceremony in central London.

Insolvency & Business Asset Auction House of the Year

The National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA) annual awards
recognise excellence and outstanding achievement across the profession is we were delighted to win the Insolvency & Business Asset Auction House of the Year 2015 award. Phil Arnold, president of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA), said: “This event is an industry institute. Now in its fifth year, it’s a great way for us to show off and congratulate the great work conducted by valuers and auctioneers across the whole business. We were extremely impressed with this year’s entrants – the standard was very high.”

McCartneys LLP have also scooped ‘Best Estate Agency Wales’ at the prestigious Sunday Times Estate Agent Awards.

Best Real Estate Agency West Midlands

The initial stages of the International Property Awards saw McCartneys LLP with Phipps & Pritchard scoop two awards, one being Best Real Estate Agency Marketing West Midlands. Winners were chosen after a meticulous scoring process, covering every aspect of the property business. The judges not only looked for the most impressive and innovative real estate companies, they also examine their services, background and marketing strategies. They were impressed with the company’s websites and robust marketing strategy for every property on its books.

The second award won at the International Property Awards was Best Real Estate Agency Shropshire. As a result of the win, McCartneys LLP went forward to the International Best Agency Awards, which saw them win Best Real Estate Agency UK.
At this regional stage, the judges took all of the 5 star award winners and nominated the highest scoring to go onto the next stage. Simon Joined McCartneys LLP in October 2009 and currently undertakes professional work from Brecon, Hay on Wye and the Llandrindod Wells Offices of McCartneys. Simon is a graduate of the University of Manchester, a post graduate of the University of Reading, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), a Member of the Institute of Revenue, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) and a RICS registered valuer. Simon began his surveying career working for the Estates Department of Powys County Council undertaking a wide range of estate management activities. In October 2009 Simon joined McCartneys LLP to work as part of the professional team in Hay on Wye & Brecon and has since specialised in the sale and letting of all types of residential, commercial and agricultural property. His other specialisms include Compulsory Purchase & Compensation, Planning Matters, Business Rating, Landlord & Tenant Matters and Valuations for Probate, Security and Taxation.     Zoe, based and raised in Worcestershire, brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in a successful multi-faceted business. Her estate agency career began at Phipps & Pritchard in 2003. She has a deep understanding of the local market and has grown the catchment of the office which sees us working through Wyre Forest, Worcestershire, West Midlands and beyond. Zoe is driven to achieve the best outcomes for her clients and her passion for both property coupled with exceptional customer service really is an excellent fit with the companies core values. She is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents (FNAEA) and is accredited with the Diploma in Residential Estate Agency (DipREA). Zoe heads the Kidderminster Office which operates both residential sales & lettings where her team have won the British Property Gold Award for our local area 2021, 2023 and 2024.     Geraint joined McCartneys LLP in June 2007 and currently undertakes professional work from the Welshpool, Newtown and Kington Offices.
    Geraint is a graduate of the John Moores University of Liverpool with a degree in Building Surveying, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Geraint is also fully qualified to undertake Domestic Energy Assessments and level 3 Commercial Energy Assessments.
    Geraint began his surveying career working for RW Solutions in Liverpool undertaking a wide range of Building Surveying matters and specialising in dilapidations. In June 2007 Geraint joined McCartneys as part of the Planning and Survey Department in Kington and has since specialised in all things Building Surveying on residential, commercial and agricultural matters. His other specialisms include Planning Matters, Building Regulations, Domestic and Commercial Energy Assessments and Land surveys.
    Geraint is a local lad and is a farmer’s son from Tregynon, where he enjoys helping out on the farm.”

    Debbie Anderson

    Debbie has had a long and successful career in the Estate Agency, starting in 1986 with an independent firm in the West Midlands. Her journey led her to Shropshire in 1998, where she joined McCartneys in 2002 to lead the Residential Sales Department in Ludlow. Over the years, Debbie has played a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Ludlow office, ensuring customers receive the highest levels of service. With a wealth of experience in the property market, Debbie is well-equipped to advise clients on all aspects of buying and selling homes. Her commitment to professionalism is reflected in her membership with the National Association of Estate Agents and the Association of Residential Letting Agents. Recognizing her contributions, Debbie became a Partner at McCartneys in 2006. The Ludlow office’s dedication to excellence was highlighted in 2023 when they were awarded the Gold Winner Estate Agent in Ludlow by the British Property Awards. Debbie expressed pride in her team’s accomplishments, emphasizing their commitment to excellent customer service. Outside of work, Debbie resides in Leominster and enjoys activities such as walking, gardening, and reading. Her passion for real estate and commitment to customer satisfaction have undoubtedly contributed to her long-standing success in the industry.

    Jeff Williams

    Jeff joined McCartneys in September 1996 after completing a 3-year course at The University of West England in Bristol, where he gained an Honours Degree in Valuation and Estate Management. Jeff is a registered valuer with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and deals with all property related matters. Having been given the task of developing estate agency work within Mid Wales Jeff started in Builth Wells and on the back of McCartneys’ success, he opened the Llandrindod Wells branch in 2001 and in 2007 extended the coverage to Rhayader. Jeff, formerly a keen sportsman who enjoys socialising, grew up on the family farm near Brecon where he now enjoys spending his spare time with his children Nia and Johnny-Gwyn.

    Jenny Layton Mills

    Jenny Layton Mills

    Upon leaving Harper Adams University College with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, Jenny joined McCartneys in 1999 at their Knighton Office and Livestock Market. Striving to be one of the first female livestock auctioneers in the country, she quickly began to sell at weekly finished markets, fortnightly store markets and farm dispersal sales.

    While expanding the large range of Rural Professional work within Mid Wales and the borders, she became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Her favourite part of the job is to see a good result for a client. She says “the hardest jobs are always the best when they work out right”. Jenny is also a RICS independent Expert Witness and has acted in Rural Valuations on many disputes. Jenny completes over 120 BPS applications, many of which are cross border applicants together with a large range of Compensation work recently including the Elan Valley Aqueduct Rehabilitation works. Jenny is also a Fellow of the Livestock Auctioneers Association and became an Equity and LLP Partner of McCartneys in 2006.

    She lives with her husband Richard and son Tommy on the family farm at Vowchurch. She enjoys playing hockey for Kington Ladies Hockey Club when times allows and enjoys supporting and judging YFC Competitions.
    Qualifications & Experience

    Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV), Fellow of the Livestock Auctioneers Association (FLAA) and registered by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as an Expert Witness, Qualified in the Rural Divisions of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, with in excess of 10 years’ post qualification experience specialising in the RICS faculties of Rural Property, Dispute Resolution and Rural Land & Property Jenny is fully conversant with the RICS Practice Statement & Guidance Notes “Surveyors acting as Expert Witnesses”, the Civil Procedure Rules – Part 35, the “Civil Justice Experts‚ Protocol” and has considerable experience in preparing Expert Witness Reports.

    Jenny also has the practical experience of Livestock, both cattle and sheep, from selling on a weekly basis at Knighton market.

    Katie Davies

    Katie Davies

    Katie joined McCartneys in August 2008 following graduating from Harper Adams University College with a First Class Honours Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, and became a Partner of McCartneys in January 2017. Katie is a qualified member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), RICS Registered Valuer and Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV). Based between our Knighton and Welshpool offices Katie undertakes Rural Professional work across Mid Wales and the Borders, as well as being an auctioneer at Knighton Livestock Market. Katie’s daily work includes sales and lettings of land, farms and rural property, valuations, landlord and tenant matters, compulsory purchase and compensation matters, Basic Payment Scheme and grant applications, planning appraisals and livestock auctioneering. Katie is a farmer’s daughter originating from Llangunllo, Radnorshire. When young enough Katie was an active member of Young Farmers! She is proud to have held the position of County Chairman of Radnor Federation. Always willing to have a go she has been lucky enough to achieve success in a variety of competitions. Her proudest moments are her stock judging and public speaking successes with memorable moments including winning the Welsh Black cattle judging and dairy Holstein judging at the Royal Welsh Show, the Butchers Lambs judging at the Royal Welsh Show Winter Fair, twice winning Radnor YFC Senior Stockman of the Year and being a member of the winning Radnor YFC Senior debating team at Wales and representing the county at National. Outside of work she enjoys helping on the family farm.

      Zoe, based and raised in Worcestershire, brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in a successful multi-faceted business. Her estate agency career began at Phipps & Pritchard in 2003. She has a deep understanding of the local market and has grown the catchment of the office which sees us working through Wyre Forest, Worcestershire, West Midlands and beyond. Zoe is driven to achieve the best outcomes for her clients and her passion for both property coupled with exceptional customer service really is an excellent fit with the companies core values. She is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents (FNAEA) and is accredited with the Diploma in Residential Estate Agency (DipREA). Zoe heads the Kidderminster Office which operates both residential sales & lettings where her team have won the British Property Gold Award for our local area 2021, 2023 and 2024. We have won awards in both sales and lettings. In her spare time Zoe enjoys walking, entertaining and of course imparts her love for retail therapy on her family.

      Geraint joined McCartneys LLP in June 2007 and currently undertakes professional work from the Welshpool, Newtown and Kington Offices.
      Geraint is a graduate of the John Moores University of Liverpool with a degree in Building Surveying, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Geraint is also fully qualified to undertake Domestic Energy Assessments and level 3 Commercial Energy Assessments.
      Geraint began his surveying career working for RW Solutions in Liverpool undertaking a wide range of Building Surveying matters and specialising in dilapidations. In June 2007 Geraint joined McCartneys as part of the Planning and Survey Department in Kington and has since specialised in all things Building Surveying on residential, commercial and agricultural matters. His other specialisms include Planning Matters, Building Regulations, Domestic and Commercial Energy Assessments and Land surveys.
      Geraint is a local lad and is a farmer’s son from Tregynon, where he enjoys helping out on the farm.”

      Debbie has had a long and successful career in the Estate Agency, starting in 1986 with an independent firm in the West Midlands. Her journey led her to Shropshire in 1998, where she joined McCartneys in 2002 to lead the Residential Sales Department in Ludlow. Over the years, Debbie has played a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Ludlow office, ensuring customers receive the highest levels of service. With a wealth of experience in the property market, Debbie is well-equipped to advise clients on all aspects of buying and selling homes. Her commitment to professionalism is reflected in her membership with the National Association of Estate Agents and the Association of Residential Letting Agents. Recognizing her contributions, Debbie became a Partner at McCartneys in 2006. The Ludlow office’s dedication to excellence was highlighted in 2023 when they were awarded the Gold Winner Estate Agent in Ludlow by the British Property Awards. Debbie expressed pride in her team’s accomplishments, emphasizing their commitment to excellent customer service. Outside of work, Debbie resides in Leominster and enjoys activities such as walking, gardening, and reading. Her passion for real estate and commitment to customer satisfaction have undoubtedly contributed to her long-standing success in the industry.

      Jeff joined McCartneys in September 1996 after completing a 3-year course at The University of West England in Bristol, where he gained an Honours Degree in Valuation and Estate Management. Jeff is a registered valuer with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and deals with all property related matters. Having been given the task of developing estate agency work within Mid Wales Jeff started in Builth Wells and on the back of McCartneys’ success, he opened the Llandrindod Wells branch in 2001 and in 2007 extended the coverage to Rhayader. Jeff, formerly a keen sportsman who enjoys socialising, grew up on the family farm near Brecon where he now enjoys spending his spare time with his children Nia and Johnny-Gwyn.

      Jenny Layton Mills

      Upon leaving Harper Adams University College with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, Jenny joined McCartneys in 1999 at their Knighton Office and Livestock Market. Striving to be one of the first female livestock auctioneers in the country, she quickly began to sell at weekly finished markets, fortnightly store markets and farm dispersal sales.

      While expanding the large range of Rural Professional work within Mid Wales and the borders, she became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Her favourite part of the job is to see a good result for a client. She says “the hardest jobs are always the best when they work out right”. Jenny is also a RICS independent Expert Witness and has acted in Rural Valuations on many disputes. Jenny completes over 120 BPS applications, many of which are cross border applicants together with a large range of Compensation work recently including the Elan Valley Aqueduct Rehabilitation works. Jenny is also a Fellow of the Livestock Auctioneers Association and became an Equity and LLP Partner of McCartneys in 2006.

      She lives with her husband Richard and son Tommy on the family farm at Vowchurch. She enjoys playing hockey for Kington Ladies Hockey Club when times allows and enjoys supporting and judging YFC Competitions.
      Qualifications & Experience

      Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV), Fellow of the Livestock Auctioneers Association (FLAA) and registered by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as an Expert Witness, Qualified in the Rural Divisions of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, with in excess of 10 years’ post qualification experience specialising in the RICS faculties of Rural Property, Dispute Resolution and Rural Land & Property Jenny is fully conversant with the RICS Practice Statement & Guidance Notes “Surveyors acting as Expert Witnesses”, the Civil Procedure Rules – Part 35, the “Civil Justice Experts‚ Protocol” and has considerable experience in preparing Expert Witness Reports.

      Jenny also has the practical experience of Livestock, both cattle and sheep, from selling on a weekly basis at Knighton market.

      Katie Davies

      Katie joined McCartneys in August 2008 following graduating from Harper Adams University College with a First Class Honours Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, and became a Partner of McCartneys in January 2017. Katie is a qualified member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), RICS Registered Valuer and Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV). Based between our Knighton and Welshpool offices Katie undertakes Rural Professional work across Mid Wales and the Borders, as well as being an auctioneer at Knighton Livestock Market. Katie’s daily work includes sales and lettings of land, farms and rural property, valuations, landlord and tenant matters, compulsory purchase and compensation matters, Basic Payment Scheme and grant applications, planning appraisals and livestock auctioneering. Katie is a farmer’s daughter originating from Llangunllo, Radnorshire. When young enough Katie was an active member of Young Farmers! She is proud to have held the position of County Chairman of Radnor Federation. Always willing to have a go she has been lucky enough to achieve success in a variety of competitions. Her proudest moments are her stock judging and public speaking successes with memorable moments including winning the Welsh Black cattle judging and dairy Holstein judging at the Royal Welsh Show, the Butchers Lambs judging at the Royal Welsh Show Winter Fair, twice winning Radnor YFC Senior Stockman of the Year and being a member of the winning Radnor YFC Senior debating team at Wales and representing the county at National. Outside of work she enjoys helping on the family farm.
